Some women just don’t go for the perfume extravaganza either because they think it is not affordable or they truly don’t believe there is something out there for them. The fact is, there IS a fragrance out there for everyone, but it may take some time finding the right one for you. Wearing a fragrance is almost as important as carrying a good handbag, what you wear on your skin says as much about you as what you carry on your arm. The first thing you need to know is the difference between the types. I am not talking floral, woody, smoky, or the like. Those specific scents you will find through your own trial and error. You want to know whether or not to buy the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfume, or Parfume. Any reputable line of fragrance will have an option in either of these categories, and you need to “sniff around”. The key here is the further you get to the “Parfume” end of the spectrum, the purer your fragrance is gong to be. If the name on the bottle states “Eau de Anything” then you know your fragrance is going to be more alcohol based than oil based. It is the quantity of oil in the fragrance that gives it its lasting effect. That being said, the Eau de Toilettes are going to smell more “alcoholic” and less scented than its purer form of Parfume. Further, while it may look like you are getting a better deal with the Eau de Toilettes from a wallet perspective, the truth is you will actually save more money by buying a Parfume. Why? Because an Eau De Toilette is going to require frequent application and your bottle will run dry faster than the Parfume bottle will. A good quality Parfume is going to require a few dabs in the appropriate places in the morning and you will have an all day effect. These same rules apply if you are picking up a scent for the man in your life. Good choices for women this season are Gucci’s Envy Me which has an effect that lasts a minimum of 6-8 hours, and this effect was experienced by skin sampling alone. Another very pretty choice is Chanel’s Mademoiselle. This is a long lasting scent that is both sophisticated and sexy at the same time. If you are a floral kind of girl, check out Stella McCartney’s signature fragrance Stella which has been described as a rose in the process of blooming. I am not a flower kind of girl when it comes to perfumes, but just because I love Stella, I picked up the sample roll-on and adopted a new favorite scent. It is very subtle, pretty, AND sexy.
