Eight Floor Gucci Store

GucciShopping Gucci on eight floors. You don´t belive it? Well, Gucci has just opened a new flagship store in Japan. You can now find them in Japan’s Ginza district including a cafe and gallery at the top. Mark Lee, Gucci CEO, informed that initially it was planned to have only two floors for retail sales and corporate offices in remaining area. But when he took charge last year, he decided to keep the entire space for retail. Good for the consumers. More space, more products and more Gucci for everyone. Rich leather handbags are exhibited near the outlet’s entrance, while less expensive canvas bags are kept on the second floor. Here the act of buying is referred to as “the selling ceremony”.

Gucci made this move, because Japan is one of the biggest market for the luxury brand. According to Bloomberg, the sales volume in this region of Japan accounted for more than 20 percent of the company’s returns last year. The new Ginza flagship store is expected to become profitable within 2007.

However, with Japan’s currency falling, analysts say that there may be challenges in selling goods with the economy the way it is today and how it will develop in the future. A skeptic researcher from the Yano Research Institute in Tokyo is quoted saying, “Consumer spending patterns have changed, and some people are tired of expensive goods, and are investing in studying, or on spas and recreation, instead”.
