Bruno Pieters was born in Belgium. In 1999 he graduated from the Royal Academy Of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He worked as an assistant for labels such as Martin Margiela (Paris), Josephus Thimister (paris) and Christian Lacroix haute couture, also in Paris. He was also working as a freelance designer for for New York Industry in Milan and Antonio Pemas in Madrid.
In 1999 he won the Coccodrillo Award for best shoe design, followed by the Fortis Bank Award in 2000, which honored him as the most promising designer.
During the Paris Culture Week in 2001, he was the first belgian Antwerp graduate, to present a couture collection, titled “the suit”. The whole show was a procession of suits and only suits. His collection featured twelve silhouttes inspired by a 1950´s newlook suit.
In march of 2002 he launched his first redy-to-wear collection, displaying his ever-present penchant for technique and craftsmanship. Bruno Pieters is first and foremost a technician and a constructionist. He likes to experiment with shape and proportion.
In march 2006 Bruno Pieters was photographed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Madame Figaro Magazine, for a “top 30 designers from Paris” special.
Bruno Pieters currently works for Delvoux, europes oldest leather goods house.
